Queen of the Adriatic Sea Choral Festival and Competition is a competitive and non competitive event that usually takes place in Cattolica and in some wonderful places of Romagna Region. This year, because of the problems connected to the outbreak by corona virus, it takes place in a online way. The Festival is organised by Musicaficta Music Association under the patronage of Regione Emilia Romagna, Rimini, Cattolica, San Leo Town Councils, Italian Choral Director Association and AERCO, the regional choirs association. Musicaficta is also the organiser of the Rimini International Choral Competition and of the Claudio Monteverdi International Choral Festival and Competition.
The Queen of the Adriatic Sea Choral Festival and Competition not merely aims to put choral ensembles in competition, but also to present to the public the characteristics and diversity of each group and repertoire. This year, because of the pandemic, we decided to add a special category ‘virtual choirs’, as many choirs have prepared this particular performance. The other categories in the competition represent traditional choirs:
- Mixed Choirs
- Choirs with Equal Voices
- Youth and Children’s Choirs
- Sacred Music Choirs
- Folk, Spiritual and Gospel choirs
The music programme is completely free, there are not compulsory pieces requested and there is no preclusion for periods and genres. We would like very much to give you and your choir a unique opportunity of mutual and fruitful exchange between different musical cultures.
Andrea Angelini, Artistic Director of the Festival
